The property
Located on the banks of the river Saône, this 17th century domaine was a refuge for boatmen in former times, it also served as an ancient hunting lodge.Now entirely renovated in 2020 by Sheena and John using exclusively local artisans, respecting the domaine’s long history, restoring with authentic and traditional materials. Today, the domaine offers a high level of comfort, with modern and luxurious fittings.
The domaine
Domaine de l’Oiseau is made up of 3 main buildings set in heart of a 7 acres park, with its heated swimming pool. This offers a stunning view out to the river Saône.
The main house hosts a welcoming reception and is where dinners and breakfasts are served. The vast lounge and its magnificent Burgundy stone fireplace, is still working and warming the room perfectly with a crackling log fire in winter.
The building accommodating the bedrooms is just behind the main house. The bedrooms all offer independent entrances.
The ancient barn renovated as a cosy and relaxing environment is John’s den, or rather John’s cellar, where he will share with you his passion for wine. Wine appreciation courses can be organised on reservation and delivered by professionals (please contact us).
The architecture and design of the domaine are not well adapted to children and handicapped person

Sheena and John
« We fell in love with Burgundy from our first visit: the wines, the picturesque villages, the way of life…. We quickly went in search of our perfect property to make our future Maison d’hotes. This was to take some time, until we (finally) saw Domaine de l’Oiseau. Lured by its history linked to the boatmen, the proximity to Beaune and the vines, we launched our adventure finally leaving England in 2019. »
John took care of the challenge of renovations to the buildings. A colossal job. Sheena developing the interiors and decoration, something she particularly enjoys. From a background in hospitality, she loves welcoming her guests.

Every morning, Sheena and John will prepare for you a breakfast you will remember for a long time. Taken on the terrasse or inside the house, it will delight all gourmets!
Events
Domaine de l’Oiseau is the ideal place to organise your private events or professional reunions
In summer, the domaine’s grand park and the old barn can welcome up to 100 guests. It is possible to place marquees, open or closed depending on the weather. You can enjoy the garden, terraces and the view out to the swimming pool.
In winter, we recommend the old barn with it’s warm decoration and colours, accommodating up to 30 guests for events and seminars.
